Let’s meet Jay Cleary and Sandy Fairbrother, owners of Cleary Fairbrother Property and their Business Development Manager Gerarda Mader
When did Cleary Fairbrother Property begin and what was the reason behind its inception?
After working in another office and we could see the opportunity to do real estate a little bit differently so in 2019, we began Cleary Fairbrother Property with the intention to tweak a few things and change up how we provide real estate services in Bathurst.
What has been the biggest win over the last few years?
Sandy said “The local support and referrals has been just so great! And I would also add that receiving local awards was great too!” While Jay commented, “Being able to establish our own brand and be able to create our own ideas, has been really rewarding.”
What has been the biggest challenge over the last few years?
COVID has certainly presented its own challenges but more so it has been getting the community to recognise us under our own brand and not from the previous independent office we came from, but we feel like we have turned that corner now and feel like we have certainly established ourselves in our own right in the community.
What was the best business advise you’ve ever been given?
Jay said “Always tell the truth so you don’t have to remember your lies – that’s a big one! And don’t ever let a phone call or email be unanswered at the end of each day as it can snowball into the next day!” Sandy’s advise is to “Stick to your ethics! In your heart, you know what’s good and bad, right or wrong which comes above anything! If it’s not in your ethics, you should steer away from it”. Gerard added, “I love business and think business is amazing! But the bottom line is that you have to add value with whatever it is you do!”
What’s your favourite thing about Bathurst?
We love that sense of community and how locals stick by locals, it’s certainly been proven with us here. And not just in business, it is also with local charities! There is a real sense of looking out for one another, that is a great “Bathurst” kind of thing! It’s also such a vibrant location! There’s always so many things going on here and in the region.
Final thoughts…
Our ethos is that no property is too big or too small for us to provide our professional property services. The “market” is continuing to kick along and now is a great time to sell and also a good time for sellers looking to upgrade!
